On Feb. 24th at 2:00pm we will be having another Super 8mm meeting at my place in LA. For those of you who live in the LA area and are interested in joining the group, please contact me directly. These things are planned for the meeting:
1) If all goes will we will be editing the test footage shot during our last meeting on Feb 10th. As you may have read earlier, we had a number of problems with the flash contact and a mini-disc recorder. We will also be comparing footage shot with a Nizo 6080, Beaulieu 7008Pro, and Canon 814.
2) We are still interested in working as a team to help a member willing to fund their own 10 minute short film. However in order to do that we need to see the script. So at this meeting we would like people who are developing or have developed their short script to bring them. They will be reviewed and perhaps some will be green lit. I hope by the end of this year we can have a complication of these to transfer to a DVD.
3) The website needs a total overhaul. We will be talking about what is the best information to have on the website. We will also have a number of Super8Filmmaker magazines so members can look for good super8mm tips. I hope to put some of these online based on the responses at the meeting.
4) Last of all for some fun I thought we could all watch "10 Minute Film School" by Robert Rodriguez. It has some interesting information on lighting and shooting tricks he did, as well as how he synced his audio up with the film shot non-crystal.
Again, anyone can attend these meetings. That's all it really takes to become a member. That and a dedication to filmmaking in general. Please contact me for more information. [email protected]

I can't wait to move back to Southern California and attend some of your meetings!
It sounds like a good group, and a great idea.
Please post the progress of the films on this board. Many of us would be interested in how that's all going.
I am willing to offer my musical abilities to soundtracks, if anyone there is interested.
I don't have the time to do a bunch of them, but I can do something anyway.

Woooo . . . long drive (Believe me, I know). Well we hope to see you at the meeting. If you need directions just e-mail me. It's pretty easy since you take the 101 almost the whole way. I hope you have a good time while you are here!

Synchronicity! I've been shooting digitally (Canon XL1) for the past few years and just in the past few weeks have realized I love film while merely liking digital. I love this site and am gonna see if I can get out of work on Sunday to make the 6 hour drive to LA to be at this meeting.

Hmm... Matt, why dontcha hook up w/ Garthulu, swing through SF and pick me up and we'll all make the drive together.
OK, maybe we should just do our own No Cal meetings. What's on 80 halfway between SF and Sacto?
Oh yeah... nothing

Hey all you up in Bay Area! Come on down and hang with us! Have you seen the editions to the website? I have many San Francisco locations listed for 8mm services. Damn I miss San Francisco.
Next time I'm there for a shoot we need to all hook up! I have some perfect spots to film and have done some great tests with negative 640 in the underground muni stations with no extra lighting required!
